It’s been a triathlon-tastic weekend for some of our swimmers!
Seasoned athlete Joshua The Pocket Rocket was selected to represent the North West at the Inter Regionals Championships at Mallory Park this weekend. The IRCs are a key event in the triathlon calendar and it’s a big achievement to be selected. The event is where the top junior regional teams from across the UK compete against each other.
On Saturday Joshua was due to compete in the triathlon- but due to blue green algae blooms the swim was cancelled and the event became a duathlon (run-bike-run). Whilst some athletes were happy about this - being a strong swimmer and having done A LOT of swimming this year Joshua was understandably a bit disappointed! Despite this; Joshua put in an excellent performance coming 2nd place in the B final
. On Sunday, in part 2 of the event Joshua came a fantastic 12th out of 52 of the best Tri Star 2 age athletes in England
Well done Joshua!
It didn’t end there!
Joshua was back racing today, Bank Holiday Monday, joined by Xander at the Manchester Triathlon Club Junior Triathlon at Hough End Leisure Centre. This was a pool swim; bike on the field, and then a run for the finish!
Joshua raced really hard for a close 2nd in the Tri Star 2 category and Xander (in his first ever triathlon) came 3rd in the Tri Star 3 category. It was a fantastic event and great to see such impressive performances from our team members!
Both boys also won spot prizes, Joshua for determination and Xander for sportsmanship.
It’s great to see their spirit showing through!
Well done both, and see you at training tomorrow!
