Ashley and James at Sheffield 2021
Swim England Winter Nationals - December 2021
Ashley & James have every reason to smile after putting in a massive effort at the Swim England Winter Nationals.
With 12 swims across 3 days between them, and nearly every swim a PB, this is testimony to the hard work & dedication both have shown consistently over a number of years.
Inspiring swimming both of you, here’s to a successful year ahead.
Thanks for being the role models you are to our Club.
Snowfrills Snowfrills At Sheffield - November 2021

Another great event for ASC!

Day 1 saw Michael G smashed out PBs in 5/5 events which is no mean feat with back to back swimming.  Michael W battled through the snow to get there in time for an awesome 50m Freestyle PB, with Vincent, Lachie, Abbie & Max swimming great PB times plus a Gold for Max.  We saw more PBs in the 50m Backstroke with both Max and Lachie taking Silver medals.

Day 2 and we had another clean sweep of PBs, with Michael G swimming 8 PBs out of 8 swims and Michael W hitting the PBs hard too.  Vincent put in some great swims, pushing Tom’s underwater skill training to the limit with a brave 200m IM.  Lachie had a clean sweep of PBs too with a Silver in 100m Backstroke, and Max also had some fast swims plus a Gold in the 100m Backstroke.

You have all done yourselves and the Club proud, what a great team!

ASC Winter Meet - Session 1 - November 2021 Well done to everyone to took part in the first session of the ASC Winter meet, lots of great swims with special congratulations to Max O, Harvey B and James P who all set new Club Records in the 100m Breaststroke for their respective age groups.
Arena League, Round 1 - November 2021
Awesome work from our Arena team at Leigh last night! This was the first time racing outside of the Club for a lot of our swimmers and they absolutely smashed it!
A slightly different format with mixed relays made for some exciting races too.
Plenty of 1st and 2nd placings and no DQs, plus a great team spirit as always.
We missed out on the win by 1 point 158-157! Congrats to Ramsbottom for the win, we will be ready next time

Swim England North West Winter Regional Championships - November 2021 Great racing this weekend from Ashley and James at the North West Winter Regionals with two silver and two bronze for Ashley and a silver for James.  Their rivalry has always been great to see but a joint silver in the 50 Free just about sums it up!  Exciting racing, and it’s great to see the PBs and medals coming in. Well done!

Lachie has really stepped up his swimming and his mindset recently, and has shown a brilliant attitude to both skills based sessions and the hard graft. He's inspiring the younger swimmers using his Young Volunteers Award assisting on a Saturday evening and we can't wait to see what times he can pull out when he starts racing! Well done Lachie.
The other worthy nominees for September were:

  • Sam G in Squad 4 - brilliant focus in training, working so hard in every session and even swimming outside of the Club as much as he can.
Level X Results (October 2021) Hopefully all of you will now have received your Level X Series 2 results via email from Swim England.

This event took place earlier in the Summer and Chris, myself, and the coaching team were delighted with how the swimmers applied themselves.

Now that we have the official results, we have some truly outstanding performances to report.

Firstly, to bring context to these results, this was the only racing available during the pandemic, so engagement was extremely high across the country. 26,000 swimmers took part in the competition which was live between 12 April 2021 and 22 August 2021.

Any swimmer hitting the top 100 in any race is an extremely good result in this national Level X competition. Many of our swimmers achieved this in one or more of their races. This is especially good as Altrincham’s pool is not known to be the fastest!

A top 50 result is outstanding, with Michael G coming 32nd in the Male 13 years 100 Individual Medley and Michael W coming 49th in the Male 13 years 100 Freestyle.

We have 3 swimmers who made the coveted Swim England Level X Top 10 leaderboards and who ranked in the Top 30 or higher in all of their events.

Please join the Club in congratulating these swimmers for their success in this competition, making the Top 10 in the following events:

• Ashley D
4th - Male 17 years 50 Butterfly
9th - Male 17 years 100 Freestyle

• James P
4th - Male 17 years 50 Freestyle
6th - Male 17 years 100 Freestyle
7th - Male 17 years 50 Backstroke
8th - Male 17 years 100 Backstroke

• Max O
2nd (Silver Medal) - Male 12 years 100 Individual Medley
6th - Male 12 years 100 Backstroke

Great effort everyone! There’s so much more to come now that “real” galas are back!

Keep up the good work,

Club Record Breakers (July 2021)

Congratulations to the swimmers that set new Club records during the recent Level X event:-

Ashley D claimed records in 200m Freestyle, both 50m and 100m Butterfly, plus the 100m and 200m Individual Medley;

James P claimed the 50m and 100m Freestyle, together with the 50m and 100m Backstroke;

Emily I claimed the 100m Freestyle record.

James March 01 James P bags his second national medal of his career, taking silver in the 50m Backstroke @swimengland Level X.  James adds this to his gold in the 100m Backstroke the year before!  Well done James.
2021 British Championship Qualifiers The British Champs Qualifying Times have been published and we're thrilled to report that we have two qualifiers at the Club.

James P qualified in the 50m free and the 100m back
Ashley D qualified in the 50m free

This event takes place in mid April and, in an Olympic year, also serve as the Olympic trials, so it really is a huge achievement for our small Club to produce qualifiers in this event.  It should definitely serve as inspiration for all our younger swimmers too.

Huge congratulations to the boys on their achievement.

In these uncertain times, who knows whether the event will actually take place, but for the boys and for the Club, we can always say that they're Olympic trials qualifiers!

Level X Racing,
Series 1

Some great news to share with you all!
The final standings from Series 1 of Swim England’s Level X have been released and we have three, yes three, top 10 swimmers! This translates to an English National Final!
Well done to Max O for his 8th place finish in the 100IM. He’s definitely one to watch in the future!
Ashley D took 9th in the 50 Fly, building on from his National final in 2019 in the same event.
James P finished 6th in the 100IM, 8th in the 50Free and 2nd in the 50Back, earning a Silver Medal in the process!
Well done to the three boys on their outstanding achievements and for flying the flag for our Club nationwide. To achieve such amazing times and results at the end of such a turbulent year is credit to their work ethic and commitment to their training.
We can’t wait to bring round 2 of Level X later in the year and we’re sure more names will start creeping onto those National leaderboards.
Keep up the amazing work you’re all doing at land training and endurance wise and we’ll be ready to go again when we get the green light.
